what size tank is the minimum for a arowana any species my choices are 6x2x2,5x2x2,4x2x2 and what else could i keep with it i was thinking of some bichirs

The rule around here, and one that I agree with, is to get the biggest tank that fits. So if you are considering those sizes, get the 6x2x2. It also depends on what size the aro is when you get it. If you get a baby, you can get away with a 4x2x2 for maybe as long as a year. But if you can fit a 6x2x2, you should. Then you'll be able to keep him in there for much longer without being forced to upgrade. 6x2x2 isn't ideal for an older aro, but it's not absolute torture either.

As for tankmates, it depends on what aro you get.

I went to a few Asian Aro dealers here in Bangkok last week, they're all here and some that are just importers. they all said length 60in with a front to back of 30in and 26in tall.
72in in length is even better if you can fit it in or aford it.
From what i've lernt on this site Jardini can live in a smaller tank, if you're in Oxford England then you can get an Asian Aro if you want.
I used to think silver Aros would be Ok in a length 60in with a front to back of 30in and 26in tall, until i saw some fully grown ones at the local fish market, the folk on here who say you need a BIG tank for a silver are right, and the problem is once you buy a silver and it gets too big for the tank what do you do with it?
Have you looked into having aa tank made instead of just buying what's in the shop?

the wider the better. 2 ft isnt wide enough IMO but it will last a while

For any species of aro figure you need a tank that has a length 3x as long as the fish. The width/depth should be at least equal to the length of the fish.

IMO the 6x2x2 foot tank is only good enough fpr a 24" aro and that is not full grown size for any arowana.

As said above the lenght of the tank should be atleast 3x's as long as the fish, and the width should be the same lenght of the aro. So a jar/asian will need atleast a 6x3x2, though IMO a 6x2x2 will work. Silvers sould need a larger tank, IMo a 8x3x2 would do but a 8x4x2 would be better.

well i can't go bigger than a 6x2x2

That is OK there are many different fish that can live comfortably in a tank that size. You could get an aro, but eventually it should be in a larger tank.

again, not an owner yet but wouldn't a Jar be ok in a 6x2x2?
After all it would be on its own.
