What size tubing does an Eheim Pro 3 use?

Eheim makes connector which allow you to connect two different size hose. THey're called reducer connector. Keep in mind, I was told that Eheim uses funky size hose.

go to eheim.com and download the parts manual . Even qucker is www.eheimparts.com. Since I purchased mine with all the hose and connections, I never had to look for the part specs. The hose for the E3 is 16/22mm, part 4005940.

The hose for the E3 is 16/22mm, part 4005940. Ever since I've installed mine, 1 week ago, it's been great. A quiet monster. I have me n a heavily stockd 47G bow, planted. IMHO, you wont go wrong.
Well, I decided to get a different filter instead. One that has 5/8" ID tubing. I got the Reaction 4 Stage Canister with UV built in. It was inexpensive, has good reviews, used the tubing size I needed, and I was thinking about adding UV to the mix anyway, so I killed two birds with one stone.
Plus, I checked with my LFS and they stock JBJ products, so getting the filter media whenever I need it wont be a problem, I wont have to always order it online.
It's on it's way from F&S, should have it by Friday.
Question though, should I run it in tandem with my current filter for a few days, or just toss a bunch of the media from the old filter into it and just replace the other one?
