what substrate for planted tank with gymnos

i have lots experience with SMS. there are also countless threads with photos maybe not on mfk but other sites. its the same thing.

Lesco is the first place to look. 50 pound bag tends to run about $15.
its also sold some times under the name Oil-Dri. one person said they found it under another name at one of their local auto part shops i think it was auto zone.

thanks for the info . . . I like the AquariumPlants product, but if SMS is the same stuff, I'll keep an eye out for it . . .

you can add root tabs if you have heavy root feeders. you dont have to go with it but can stick with sand if you wish.

Aquariumplants.com substrate costs more per liter than ADA aquasoil (excluding shipping, though)
which is ridiculous, assuming it is the same as turface/soilmasterselect which costs $20 for a 50 lb bag

AP can ship it for free because they don't pay much for the actual product.
