Hi i just sold all my fish back to the fish store and am in the process of starting over. I have an aqueon quietflow 55/75, aqueon quietflow 30 and a fluval 405. On my last setup i used both the aqueon filters and i was wondering what would be better, using the two aqueons or using the single fluval. Also i was thing about selling the 30 and buying another 55/75 but i am not sure. Also the fluval was used for saltwater and didnt know if i would be able to use it in freshwater and has been sitting for a year. I have never used it but i had seen it working from the guy i bought it from. Also i would need tips on how to clean it or how to set it up and what kind of filters i would need to put in it. i have never used filters that did not hang on the back before.

The tank is 72 gallons btw

If you guys think the aqueons are better how much do you think the fluval 405 would be worth since i would be selling it? I know this is alot of questions sorry about that but thank you for any help

two Aquaclear 110, or a 20 sump will work excellently.
P.S. there is nothing wrong with posting in the early morning, but people tend to get more responses in the evening.

Hahahaha yeah i figured that but i tried on another site and didnt get an answer after a few days and decided to try here as i always see this site popping up on google. But i gotta work with what i have for dont have to much of a budget to buy anything new so what would you think is better two aqueon 55/75 filters or a fluval 405 filter? Thank you for your answer

fluval 405 would be much better.
And also for additional and cheap yet effective filtration, make bottle filters (assuming you have a air stone or a powerhead) and use pothos.

Bottle Filters: My own that cost a grand total of nothing and nothing to make http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?563114-DIY-bottle-filters
A video on how to make them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXDzgM9x3tc (you can do it almost anyway you want though, this is more like a guide)
And a compilation of cheap DIY filters http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...85-Non-sump-or-wet-dry-DIY-filter-compilation

Remember, none of these will completely replace the filtrations you mentioned (except for some on the compilation), these are supplemental filtration to make your water quality even better.

Thanks for all the help. Any tips on how to clean out the filter? And im thinking i might do the fluval and aqueon 55/75 for added filtration.

The fluval 405 has 4 spots to put things in it. I know two of them are the biomax things, is there anything better than carbon i can put in the other two?

Carbon isn't something to fret over. I say take a biomax bag thingy and fill half of it with carbon and the other half with biomax. And the other spot put a buffering pad or a sponge or some more biomax or some filter floss or anything that can act as either mechanical or biological filtration.

^ I literally just used a bag of carbon for an ac30 instead of 120 and made the bag of biomax extra large, its been working perfectly in a heavily stocked tank

Purchase new media (bio-foam, bio-max) and your Fluval is ready to go.

If I were you, will use the Fluval as it holds a ton of media and good at polishing the water. For a second filter, will opt for a HOB such as AC110. Pretty good as a mechanical filter and also uses bio-max for additional bio filtration. Oh, AC110 is also pretty powerful and energy efficient.

I am becoming a big fan of HOB. The ease of cleaning over a canister is its biggest advantage. If you have multiple big tanks, cleaning canister filters has become a chore. HOB as a mechanical filter really helps.
