What tank size would 2 blue marlins need?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Marlin are a Pelagic Species and as a baby might be able to survive for a short time in a vary large public aquarium however they wouldn't survive long term captivity.

Lmao @ "Japan or Alabama (can't remember)" they aren't even somewhat similar. I thought that was pretty funny...
The idea of marlins in an aquarium is cool though!!

I think what he meant was:

Okinawa (Japan) Aquarium- 2M Gallons- http://oki-churaumi.jp/en/guide/haisai.html

Georgia Aquarium- 6.3M Gallons- http://www.georgiaaquarium.org/explore-the-aquarium/exhibits-and-galleries/ocean-voyager.aspx

Marlin have been clocked at almost 70MPH, so I don't think trying to keep one of them in even these huge 2M+ gallon tanks is a good idea...some creatures truly require the open space that only the ocean can provide.

Wow, that guy looks emaciated.

I have read that a few years ago they had to force feed two of them that had stopped feeding and both of them eventually died. IIRC, the were in captivity for less than 1 year before they died. Maybe the whale shark is another species that is best left in the open ocean. One year mortality is about as bad as some people on here...no need to name names...you know who you are...:grinyes:
