What temps do you guys keep plecos at and is there any special considerations for specific species?

I'm asking because I read about blue eyes coming from cooler waters low 70's, I usually keep my tanks warm at 80-85

Right now I have the tank at 75 but I'm considering dropping a few degrees.

Most plecos are fine at mid 70's. There are many that keep them in the 80's. I really believe unless it (general ruling for that pleco)says to keep them that high, you shouldn't.

The common bristlenose likes it 70-79 but many keep them in the 80's.

A Zebra is an exception which likes it 78-86

My tank with my L397 is kept around 23-24°c and he seems to be "happy". He's grown heaps since I got him a couple of months ago so I assume he's doing well.

However he's my first pleco and I don't really know what I'm doing with him aside from what I've read on the internet and other members have advised me to do, so take everything I said about him being "happy" and doing well with a grain of salt. :)

If you keep your plecos at higher temperatures make sure the water is well aerated/oxygenated.

The panaquolos in my discus tank are at 82. Pseudacanthicus in community tank at 75-78.

The temperature in my tank around 28-30c the Pleco seem active and healthy for many years. The list : L24, L25, L273, L155, L191, L007, L200A, L075, L27, L114, L46

If you are talking about the L144, yes this fish likes cooler temperatures.

Most other L-numbers are fine with 26-30 degrees Celcius

I never had a pleco specific tank, but tanks that had them were kept at 76 degrees.

Mid 70s on my Blue eyed cochliodon and on all plecos I keep.
