Thanks you guys. I really appreaciate all the responses. The reason I started this poll is because I was told by someone that my normal tank temp is high and questioned on why my temp is so high. I thought that 82 was ideal for tropical fish to be more active, have more appetite and grow more quickly. Maybe I should lower it a couple of degrees??? Nah, I've had 82 degree healthy tanks for 10 years with (mostly) excellent results. And P.S.--This is NOT a flame on anyone. Just stating what happened and why, that's all. I respect everyone and their opinions on MFK.

82 is high..... why do you keep it so high? I keep my tanks in the 75 to 77 range.

I keep mine at around 80 b/c that is what I keep my house at and that way my tank heaters do not have to work hard and the fish love it. It drops a little in winter to 76 ish (over a period of time, not all of a sudden) as my house temp drops. Never had any problems with the fish.

I keep all the tank at around 80 to 82, except for the discus at about 86. The discus seem to do better at the higher temps.
