i keep mine around 80-82 after fighting ich before I just left it there and all the fish seem happy and growing quickly! and since then no ich or any type of parasite problems. as far as i know there native waters are usually from 78-86. just be sure the tank mates can handle the temps!
toasty- 26-27C in the pit of winter, 30-31C in the heat of summer. They hare happier in the summertime but the cichlids suffer a bit, opposite in the winter. Heaps of bubbles and current is the key to happiness & health. Sumatra and Borneo are... warm.
In the winter, I heat my tank to around 77 F. I'm about to turn my heaters off now that it has warmed up and feeling like summer is upon us. My tank will probably be at high 70's low 80's for the summer based upon room temp.

Lots of bubbles, and current! when keeping fish at higher temps dissolved oxegen in the water goes down... so if you have lots of bubbles, a warm temp, and lots of current your loaches will feel like they are in the river!
