WHAT TETRA fits in a ten gallon

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
White Cloud Minnows are fine in a 10 gallon. Remember they are a cooler water fish.

I found a group of flame tetras at the LFS, they were really small and apparently grow to under 4 cm. I bought 8 of them.

:)

I also got a few ghost shrimp.

Flames are nice, Ghost shrimp are a nice starter invert imo. Just watch out they can get decently sized and eat anything they catch so keep them happily fed. I use them in my guppy tanks to cull the herd per-sa. and they do a good job of catching and eating any of the slower fish, and pick off babies regularly. any any bacterial/fungal infected fish gets picked off if I don't catch it real quick. also be wary and not treat the tank ever with any copper based meds if you need to treat anything. copper kills inverts in FW as easily as it does SW.

Thanks for the tips!

I'm going to let this die now...

I have one 10 gallon with 12 emperor tetras, and 2 male guppies to get the tetra moving around.
I have another 10 gallon with 12 black neons, and 2 male guppies to get the school moving as well.
Works fine for me.In small tanks, like 10 gallons,I find it best to stick with a species tank(except for the guppies) They are just not big enough for a community IME.
I also have another 10 gallon that has sand substrate, is heavily planted, with 10 or so pepper cory.

I know you said you were gonna let this die,but I had to give my 2 cents! ;)

Any of those tetras would fit in a 10. The ones that get big you wouldn't find too easily to begin with and not be cheap. You easily put 3 cories on the bottum plus the tetra easily half a dozen.
