what the best tank set up for a jar?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I've never seen a jar with DE (although apparently they very rarely get it) so I wouldn't worry about that. How big is he? You say 5 months, but how big is that?

Usually little jars are quite timid and could do with some cover. Even if you don't have any though, he'll still grow up big and strong in no time with clean, stable water and good food.

Remember to keep the tank covered as most of our aros die doing what keeps them alive and eating well in nature ... jumping!

Good luck!

depends if there is a reflection when looking down at the bare bottom or not.

They do not see a reflection, they see whats underneath the tank.

Try putting a black sheet beneath the tank or around it you can actually see a mirror like reflection, when i put it around the sides the aro did his dragon dance all day long seeing himself :) LOL.
ive got bare bottom tank that is painted a bluey colour on the bottom and it helped alot to get any sort of reflection out (this was done for my old silver pair i had ages ago).

i took out the the gravel so that i could have better water quality.. and now my tank is bare, but im gona put live plants tomorrow.. is that ok?.. by the way, my bottom is black, and from were i stand i can see his reflection below.. do u tnk his seeing himsef below? i put floating bio-balls above so as to help him look up.. wud this work? tnx!!
