i caught a 55cm yellow tail kingfish in sydney using a size 12 yellow tail (yakka) hook! I couldn't believe the hook didn't bend or dislodged!

not bad considering I was trying to catch bait to catch actually kingfish :)

49 pound Mahi Mahi. The biggest one I caught in Hawaii anyway

I only fish the local lakes around the middle of Alberta, Canada, so the fish aren't that big, it is mainly northen pike, pickerel, whitefish, and yellow perch, though you can occasionally find a burbot.
I caught my biggest fish when I was 7, it was a 38" Northern pike (we call them Jack fish...). I was sitting on the flat front of the boat and it was slowly dragging me off - then my Mom caught the rod. When we brought it in, it was almost too heavy for me to pick it up.

I find yellow perch to taste good, though I enjoy whitefish but you can't catch them on a hook, :( you have to net them (and get a permit for it... we buy the fish from a friend who nets).

I have caught many 20+ lbs bluefish (I used to fish in Long Island)
I caught a 42" Striped Bass
I caught a catfish in Uruguay that was at least 50+lbs. when I was a kid.
I caught a grouper in Key Largo that was at least 100Lbs. What an ugly fish.
The best tasting fish I have ever had was flounder caught in Lon Island Sound.

79" white sturgeon in the Sacramento River, CA, 240lbs...big momma with load of eggs, took 2 of us to wrestle that thing onto shore after its been tired out for a bit, still flopping around. :)
