Royal, King royal, light base, AAA, blonde, They're all just stupid names. Some make sense, some don't, seems all can have different interpretations.

I always thought "Royal" had to do with a purple hugh in their dots, surrounding the orange.... Which was usually only present on the dark based Marbles. By this definition, no those aren't.

By the definition in regards to "how nice" they are, sure, I'd say those are royal, as they are pretty nice.....

Myself, I'd call them nice Marbles. Want to see what they should "cost" go check in the marketplace... Seems recently they haven't been going for much.....

Wild caught or captive bred? IF CB then look at parents to get an idea. Value - I'd say $350-$500 just depends how much you like them.

IF WC then how long in captivity? What eating, these things may play a part. Obviously WC isn't worth as much as it's a gamble - might have one with a hook in its gut, might not. Not many people like the idea of the gamble. Drives price down. WCs have been around $300 lately. Ususally need a few weeks to half a year in QT, special treatment like weening off blackworms or crawlers, Usually pretty skinny, sometimes need meds, all depends on condition of animals.

Its funny how wc stingray cost less than captive breed because it usually go the other way for fishes. I.E. wild caught frontosa cost more than f1. I always thought there were difference with terms and i guess its a marketing scheme to drive prices up. You got a point there about knowing the parent because it sets a standard to how the pup would turn out in the future. The chances to have a mature marble keep it's light tone of color is tough but i been observing and noticing that with each new generation of marbles i.e F0 to F1 to F2, they tend to look better and have a lighter tone to them. Do you have any thoughts on this? Thanks for sharing.

Pretty early to tell with breeding Marbles as most people aren't any deeper then F1.

The wild ones are cheaper cause when they're fished they just snip the line and its very possible that down the road it will kill the ray. You may have a stubborn one stuck on blackworms for 3 months. Feeding a skinny ray 2-3X a day trying to get weight on with food that's $20-30/lb can get expensive. I've had stubborn rays consume nearly their own price in blackworms before getting them to accept shrimp. All these are problems not associated with CB rays. That and like you said they tend to be nicer, but I think it lies heavier on the risk part. This is all just my opinion. I'm sure others will chime in.

Thanks for pointing out the issues about wild caught rays. I can see how feeding would be costly, like those who own armatus and atf, the cost of only eating feeders can punch a whole in your wallet if you cant get them off of it. I believe most of the F2 marbles are usually from Asia. I heard that the one Mclass brought over from Thailand is F2 but can confirm if it is. Now being with Alex, i hope in the near future we can see what it produce.

I checked out your video of box of marbles and that male you have is really nice. The one that's real active swimming everywhere, is it captive breed?

ALL the rays in that video are WC.

IF you look at Mobatic's pup for instance, there's been some pretty nice ones bred over here too, but it seems it takes 2 top notch parents to produce them.

I agree, sure seems they breed some nice ones across seas.

Here's a 5"er that hopped a plane from the Netherlands..... ;)

Seems "Peanut" to be an almost fitting name for her.... :)
