WHAT THE F@#%

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
idk about you but a 75% change is a little much. unless you need it it seems like overkill to me. i like to do 25% to avoid things like this. just incase the water/conditioner is bad. i started doing this after i killed everything in my 220 gallon (redtail22", tsn 22" and about 10 other fish) and havent had a problem since.

i also have a tank with some really scetchy fish like neons and angels that i do a water change on first. if they die i know something bad might happen to my big tank.

but in your case they dies 5 min after, i have forgoten not to add declor for hours and they usually dont die. maybe your water temp was hot coming outa your hose/siink? or like the guy above said maybe you had bad water coming in your house. just so quick doesnt seem like the declor was bad.

sorry about the fish, it is the same feeling as loosing a dog or another pet, just worse because you feel like you did it to them......

God this is like reliving my night too. I had done the water change in my big tank before the Fronts, and everyone was peachy. Still have them today. But damn dude. I know that the only thing your thinking right now is :WTF:

YA THIS SUCKS...I JUST HOPE THAT MY ARO, GAR AND JD MAKE IT OUT ALL RIGHT....THE TANK LOOKS SO EMPTY WITH OUT THE SCHOOL OF TINFOILS....

The only thing u can do is get bak on ur horse and watch out for poisin on the way.

it may have been a pH issue.

I have had issues with tinfoil barbs dying in the past post water change from what I believe was from pH shock.

if you did a big water change, perhaps that might have been the problem?

not sure. but then again, perhaps it was the conditioner?? hard to say

sorry for your loss.. your barbs were what I hope mine end up like as you know from the other thread..

that sucks, sorry. I'm upset about one fish dying..... sorry

You might want to get a cup full of tap water, or whatever source you use to do water changes and test the water. It doesnt sound like the dechlor to me...If you have already had deaths this month, I would check the water. It could be that your local water company had to increase chemical input.
