That is absolutely crazy! i cant believe that. i agree with the others that the water changes were way too much though. i am even scared to be doing the 50% per week that is suggested with my planted 75. i have a redtail barracuda in there and they are way to picky to accept that kind of a water change. i do only 40% per week and that is still high. if there was some kind of chemical in your water, there is no way that the fish could have survived it with that much of a change.

i am amazed that it was that fast though. what were you using to change the water though! i used a bucket once that my fiance thought was just a bucket and put cleaning supplies in once. i have special buckets just for fish water only. she took that bucket and cleaned the floors with it, then i changed my water and walla, dead fish.

it must have been some kind of crazy contaminant. probably not in your water because you are still fine after drinking it. however it cant be just coincidental that it happened after a change in product.

i dont know man. that is just horrible and i would cry if that happened to me. my cudas are dope and if they die, i dont know what ill do.

i hope for everyone your sake and everyone else who is reading this, you figure it out. please post the reason if you get it figured out man.

i have a syphon/refill hose that is connected to my foset...i don't drink tap water...only bottles...i have an aro in the tank and i have heard that 50-75% wc was nessisary and atleast a few people on here do 75% wc...if we can figure out what happened it will be known...so far i think that something in the water (chloramines or ammonia) combined with the new conditioner that states on the back that it doesn't remove chloramines or ammonia and to use another conditioner with it to remove said cemicals, is the culprate....but the thing that gets me is the aro, gar, jd, pleco, and bullhead go sluggish and didn't die aswell...:screwy:

ya, im afriad of doing 25% HAHA... i hit bio bloom like crazy haha.. nice fillter setup sbuse!! you will need it cause of the ray poop!! how big is ur tank btw

I would not try a 75% water change with a new untested product buddy.

It pays to be a sick paranoid bastard that assumes all products on the shelf can kill your fish unless proven otherwise. Especially since I am a ray keeper.

I don't know whats the pricing for Tin Foil barbs in your neck of the woods, but they are about about $8 USD each here in Singapore.

i useally don't but the bastards at the lfs stocked it wrong i though i got amquil plus a product i have used for a few months and no issues with 75% wc...i should have looked at the lable dumb on my part...i have gone in there for the last few weeks and got the amquil in the same spot...not this time...i have only seen smalls for 4-for $12 or $8 for others...mine were 4 for $12 at 2"

haha ya. those tsns are huge haha.. =)

wait.... ( i apologize ahead of time in case i misread anything ) so ... u added the novaqua before you do the major water change ? cuz that doesnt help eliminate the chlorine or chloromine or watever ... barbs r especially prone to those chemicals , they r always the first to suffer first.... and sadly, once u notice something is happening, its already too late.... and to fix the water immediately, u can overdose amquel ( except u have to make sure there is enough air since amquel does lower air level ) and add activated carbon immediately cuz that'll "suck" in stuff
