What the heck is this? (cichlid ID)

My friend gave me a cichlid, he said the LFS store owner called it a redhead cichlid (vieja synspilum??). I am very dubious about this fish. It looks like some kind of weird firemouth/geophagus mongrol to me but I could be wrong.
Any ideas?

I guess the fish store owner said it had the temperament of a texas cichlid.

do mayan cichlids normally look pink like this guy? its about 3-4 inches and quite stressed right now.

I don't like the idea of the LFS selling hybrids to unsuspecting people under some trumped up name. It's a pretty well known store too.
