Can anyone ID what the heck this worm looking thing is? It was stuck to my glass this morning when I turned on the tanks lights. ..

I"m guessing it crawled out of the 20# of live rock it has in the tank, but i'm surprised it survived the 3 weeks of cycling it took my tank to get going.

Spgahetti worm is harmless, the medusa worm, which is in reality, bascially a cucumber could be classed as predator. Obviously, you can see the finer details of the worm, so i would google both these, see which matches up to your specimin...I would lean towards spaghetti worm personaly....

Looks like spaghetti worm according to the pics I found on google. Man, its gross looking but if it is harmless I'll just let it be.

agreed with reefscape...

I have these in quite a large number in a 125g reef. They can been seen during the day but seem to come out at night. I have noticed a few small worms that I have identified as bristle worms. Also at night very small shrimp-like creatures come out and swim around. In addition to all these fun animals there are small white worms that hang out on the back glass and circle themselves into spirals. they look like little barnacles unless i catch them moving around.

They are all so small that it would be impossible to photograph them with the camera I have. The tank has been set up for 1.5 years and has a small, healthy, multiplying coral population.

I have been gone for a few months and my father had been taking care of the tank. The water quality is perfect as far as I can tell but I think the worms may be a result of over feeding?

ideas? comments?

<<Could actually be numerous things be honest there..If you cant photograph, then possibly get a magnifiying glass and look closer at them>>
