You should have mottled sculpin where you are at. They are pretty much all over the midwest. You catch them by netting or seining in usually clear gravel bottomed creeks. Think the same areas you would expect trout to like, though the presence of trout isn't required.

I do have a seining net in the rafters in the shed as soon as it worms up a bit I'm going give it a try its been a little chilly lately

I just did a wed search on these guys and they look like the get pretty big how big do they get I can beleave I have never seen one before I'm thinking my new favorite native fish
