What the hell is this?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
if it's still with your feders, it's probably eating them as well! :D Lol!

Good find, bro CDM... you going to keep or feed? Looks like striata to me too?

WOW that really does look like a snake from the scales it has....reminds me of the western diamondback rattlesnake...lol or a cobra. Either way it looks like an awesome snakhead =] i need to buy some baby feeders that are under an inch right now

HI,

I think its striata, but I have seen them only in the asia, arket, frozen, or on my table cooked;-)

But I think it fits pretty wekll to the description here:

http://fisc.er.usgs.gov/Snakehead_circ_1251/html/channa_striata.html
Right on spot, yeah, I am in Taiwan..... and thanks for the link, I'm getting more believing it's a striata.

must be 1-2 cm wen brought in as a feeder...and u saying it grew into a 7 inch in 3 weeks? lol
Yeah, that's about it, and that's why it scares me. Because it grows even faster than my former TSG, can imagine how big it will become.

looks striata to me also , but again i have not kept this species ,only seen photos so could not be 100% on that , dont think its melanoptera head shape is wrong for that, and markings on side are also wrong

Thanks bro.

Thats a nice looking channa. You should keep 'em!
LOL, guess a 180gal tank can't hold it too long.

Actually, it started eating feederfishes the second week it's in the tank. Guess I have to let go, otherwise, some of my bichir might be its feederfish.....

Yup, it's the snakehead with the most "snakehead" I've encountered. I kept many colorful snakeheads, and all of them have rounded head.

Lovely SH dude! Your one lucky mofo to come across one like that :)

looks like channa melanoptera

a melanoptera would have black pectoral fins like marulia and marulioides
looks like nothing i know and i have to go with striat as thats the most likely case
striata are wide spread
