i'm worried about him burrowing though, because there is a heat pad attached to the bottom of the tank on one side (its the one that's adhesive to the outside of the glass bottom)... do i need to worry?

only worry if the heat pad doesn't have a temperature control. the hot spot should be in the mid 90's +/-

you don't want the heat going more than 100 right against the glass to avoid burns.

that is tragic, and also what i want to prevent with Reggie...

so at the moment my considerations are:
1) aspen
2) newspaper
3) eco earth (not entirely sure what it actually is though...lol)
4) astroturf

Eco earth is basically Shredded coconut fibers.

i took him out of his cage and just noticed the rocks are out of his belly! he probably regurgitated them, since they were at his midsection... i'm not worried now, cause im going to clean his cage and change the bedding. i'm also going to stop feeding him in his cage (i'll feed him in a critter cage instead)

he doesnt seem stressed at all, so i'm going to feed him once he's accustomed to his "new cage". Thanks all! i'll post a picture of the heating pad once i get the gravel out of the cage... its a 10 gallon. i handle him nearly every day, so i think he should be confortable in there for a while... he's just over 3 feet.

i'll update this once the cage is done... just realize that he is a little thin because of this issue he's been having, but i'm going to feed him bigtime! (probably two a week until he's bulked up to proper size)

I use Aspen bedding for my corn. I also take it out of it's cage and feed it in a rubbermade container, if you hav a thermostat or rheostat for your uth I wouldn't worry about your snake burrowing under the bedding and burning itself

Don't feed him right away if he just regurged the stones..... give it at least a week. Regurgitation takes a lot out of snake and feeding them to soon after regurging will make problems worse.
When it does start eating again don't go to quickly right away either, if it is under weight it may not necessarily have the energy to digest two meals a week. if it is only slightly thin though it should be able to take two meals a week without a problem, just don't start over feeding it now
