I always heard that it doesn't contribute to high blood pressure. It's like caffine...it will have a temporary effect on you, but nothing long term, in respect to tension.

It said that Sleep apnea is a common, under-recognized cause of hypertension/high blood pressure, now this is weird, because when i was looking through the common symptoms of Sleep apnea, my fiance matches all of these symptoms of it below;
Additional signs of obstructive sleep apnea include restless sleep, and loud snoring (with periods of silence followed by gasps). Other symptoms are non-specific: morning headaches, trouble concentrating, irritibility, forgetfulness, mood or behavior changes, increased heart rate, amxiety, depression, nocturia (getting up during the night to urinate) and heavy sweating at night.
I wonder if he has something like sleep apnea which could be concentrating to his high blood pressure? Certainly, he's had these symptoms long before he even started smoking years ago.

I do not think smoking is the main reason for high blood pressure although I am sure it does not help. I read that your fiance is a vegitarian. While I am sure he has his reasons, that is not always the healthiest for your body. Unfortunately your body needs certain supplements from meat that you can not get from other foods. For that reason most vegetarians need to take supplement pills to give the body what it needs. Without those some peoples bodies react differently and get out of whack which puts stress on your body and can cause your Blood Pressure to raise. Bottom line is there are tons of things that can raise your blood pressure finding out exactly what it is for him is probably impossible.
Just my 2 cents

Tokis-Phoenix;1098886; said:He's mainly a vegetarian simply because his parents were both vegetarians and so they never raised him on meat and stuff, so he never grew a taste for it really.
He doesn't actually eat that many fruit and vegetables at all for a vegetarian- all he seems to eat is cheese every day, and pizza's, pasta, pasties, toasties, pies etc...Only yesterday i was shocked to find out that he has never even eaten/tried pears, peaches, plums or blueberries before!
I think his high fat/high cheese diet can't be that great for him- he is of a good body weight though.
