what to breed in a 90 gal

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hmm ok cool, what size tank did u have em in?

I wish I lived in an apartment complex that gives me free large aquariums...

Anyway, you could breed a lot of things in a 90. A large cichlid would probably be the easiest, as Aqualoon is suggesting. I wouldn't use a 90 for that though, I'd put the breeding in the 55 and start a community tank in the 90.

would a 55 be big enough for those terrors? what kinda fish would you put in the community tank? know of any small cats that would do weel in a 90 community tanmk?

I had my two GTs in a 55 - but keep in mind the size that mine are now vs their adult size.

For a fish that can get up to a foot in length, having some turning room isn't a bad thing.

yea maybe ill start them in the 55 and then once i get a bigger tank for my cats ill move them into my 125

gotcha gotcha, yea i think thats what i might do, but im still open to any suggestions... anything else i need to know?

i just like the look of the green terrors better

hey buddy sorry it took so long to finally post. i dont know too much except my own experience. the gt's are great looking fish i have mine with some discus, stingray, oscar and 2 bgk's, and a couple plecos in my 150. the first time they had eggs on a small turned over round air disk they had prolly about 70 eggs i left half in and took out half. the half that stayed ended up as food the half i took out did great in my little 10g i set up for them. i put in a flat rock that is bigger than my air disk and they covered the bigger rock with eggs so i think depending on the size of the flat area is about how many eggs they will have i think i took out prolly around 100 fry it seems like if not more since they are so little its very hard to tell. i left prolly 30 or 40 in. this time the mother has kept most of those alive by keeping the other fish away but im getting ready to take those out also. i think you should prolly get a small tank to raise the fry in as even with the first batch she ate the last 10 or so before they mated again. plus if you have other fish in the aquarium it makes them not get beat up on as much. im feeding the fry hikari first bites and brine shrimp and they all seem to be doing great. they are all still pretty small and i feed them prolly about 3 times a day as well as do a small water change a night just a gallon or so. and when i poor the gallon in it gets anything off of the bottom and is easy to net out. i say use the 90 as the gt tank and put in peaceful community tank in the 55 and idk maybe use that as the grow out as long as nothing in there will eat the fry. i know this is a long post and im just babling on. but i hope this helps and if you have any more questions just ask i know im prolly forgeting things as i dont feel like scrolling back up to read what i wrote lol but just ask and i will let you know. oh ya and over the filter in the 10g i have a really fine netting over the intake as the filters WILL suck up the little fry so i have a clear hob filter so i can see in it but since the netting they arent getting sucked in. also i have some plants in the tank as they will eat off of those and helps with the water. ok well now im done so hit me up if you need to know anything else.
