What to breed? What to do?

Hahaha how much money do you think I have? Thats a few grand easy.....I wish I had that much money.

Lol. True. It's taken me about 30 years to start my l46 breeding project. But seriously, if you want to try cichlids and keep the platies, maybe look into rams. Small, colorful and not so common. Water parameters could pose a challenge though.

If you are breeding only for money I would just say skip the fish and get an additional job. It's probably best to devote your breeding efforts toward a fish you already enjoy and understand. Breeding certain high dollar cichlids requires lots of tanks, time, food, and work.

Blue tilapia or Nile tilapia... Hard part might be getting initial stock and keeping the adult breeders from getting too big => I have been thinking about this since I saw them for sale on eBay the first time 3 years aog.

I was actually thinking rams before I got this tank, but my only problem is I'm not sure how to find a pair to breed, any idea's?

buy 6-8 fish and let them pair naturally. Return the rest for store credit. You should get at least 1 pair, possibly 2. Apistogramma (dwarf ciochlids) would make a good option as well
