what to breed.

muskia get really big i think you may need a bigger pond first

but if you wan't to go natural then try suckers or sunfish they do get spines but its not to bad they eat them in the wild all the time

but if you were going to breed cichlids then try
convics which get around 6'' max
red devil which get around 12'' max but are tall so you won't be able to feed them huge ones
jackdempsys which get around 8''

but the main thing is you should get them on to better food not only are they not a very good food but it will be harder to do then you think

it will take time to grow them to the right size you would need many tanks one with the parents anouther to keep fry in anouther to keep larger fish in and anouther to keep even larger fish in and with cichlids when they start getting larger they will fight so you'll need even more tanks so reeding really isn't as eazy as you'd think

wow your nice. thanks alot.

srry i had a different fish i got max lengh on a creek chub sucker. how haard are golden shiners to breed. there is a bait shoap that sells them 1-8" ones

it will be be ply wood tank under the tank of the muskies. those dimenstion are for feeders. not my fish. my fish will ahve a 15x5x2 tank. how hard hard are sucker to breed. also i know the suckers get big i cauch(sp) a 3' one lol.

Suckers probably won't work out, they are difficult to keep let alone breed. Never bred golden shiners but I know they are raised on farms so it can be done. Creek chubs are fairly easy according to what I have read.

creek chubs are the ones that just require clean water at a cool temperature and a certain photo period right? sounds good and is probably more in your fishes natural diet, although getting it on other foods such as frozen shrimp or fish fillets is MUCH easier/better/cheaper then having it stuck on live foods.

Red Devils get far bigger than just 12". Even 16" isnt uncommon.
Why not just market shrimp and smelt? Cheaper, easy, convienent, and a simple way to feed.

i want to be a more natural way for them to eat. i will feed them shrip becuase is kinda in ther natural diet(crayfish)

i might try the smelt but i have planty of time to figure out plan becase i don't have any of thoses fish exextp the muskie and cats fish, and there only 8"9"4". smelt and shrimp i might go for thought. open to any ideas even non native sp. i would mostly perfer natives though.
