Here&There
How do you feed monster fish while on vacation? I have used a house-sitter in the past, but I had trouble with over feeding fish & underwatering houseplants. The autofeeders I have looked at clip on the tank, but if you have a big tank they don't fit and if you have big fish or a lot of them the food reservoir is too small. My fish actually laugh when I put those longlasting feeding pyramids in the tank. I usually just feed a little heavy before I leave and then feed a little more often for a couple days when I get back. That works for a 4 day weekend, but what about a 10-14 day vacation? It would be nice to solve this problem without spending a gazillion bucks.

I recently went to Florida for a week and just left my fish without food. When I got back, they seemed just fine. And the tank seemed really clean for a week's time. :) It's the first time I've had to leave them like that without someone to feed them for me but there were no probs whatsoever thank goodness.

you would need experience sitter in my opinion but I was also thinking about not feeding em for a short period time would work too,

Maybe try one of those vacation feeders (they shed off layers of food in the water).

That will get them going for 5 days. Then they can go 9 days without.

You can hire someone, BUT pre-measure the food, and put it in individual containers for each days feeding (only feed once per day, or have them feed them once a week).

just feed them alot for a day or maybe 2... then do a big water change right before you leave. Your fish will be fine without food for a week or 2, you may even notice a growth spurt when you come back.

I've left my fish for 5 days without food while I was on vacation.
If I had to leave for longer I'd get someone to feed them or get an automatic feeder.

I like alex's idea of measuring out amounts to prevent overfeeding, might actually use that idea later.

Have another fish keeper come feed them once or twice. If they don't know how then measure out the food, like said above. I think that's a great idea.
