What to do about 'shy' dats?

is this driftwood blending theory valid?I have driftwood in my tank,alot of it,I was told it would add cover and make them feel more comfortable

It is definitely a valid theory. Doesn't mean it will definitely happen. All my tanks have drift wood. Some small indos are unstable, but all my other Dats are stable.

mine always hid at the LFS and was dark, but soon after putting it in my old 125 (with driftwood, even), it lightened up and now it's as colorful as most AT can get. might just need to give it some more time. it took mine a little while before it ate much more than live, too.

I like dats, but only when they are out and about...I'm growing discontented...
