I've always been under the impression that shims should be used at the floor/stand contact points to make up for floor imperfections not really anywhere else.
What to do about uneven stand?

problem with his its not a floor issue, the corner of the stand itself is not square itself with the rest of the build, putting a shim in the corner just raise the whole tank/stand back with out removing discrepancy between the 4 corners. the gap would still be there and the stand would not sit square on the floor.

Regardless, the stand is fixed and full of water with no issues.

Seriously though, when I sent that post I immediately thought, you are coming across as a bit of a jerk here esox. I am a bit anal about stands because of the weight they have to hold long term. I apologise for that.
One thing I like to do is make all my cuts first, and then stack the boards of same length just to make sure they are all exactly the same before I start assembling. If I messed one up, the others can always be shaved down a bit to make them matching again.

Everyone forecasting catastrophe because the OP shimmed a leg needs to chill promptly. That shim job will likely outlast the seams on the tank. At the very worst, it will not "come crashing down" even if the shim is somehow dislodged. At the very worst you could expect a gradual 1/4" settling on that corner.
