As I was opening the bag of feeders, the rubber band shot off into the tank and he gobbled it right up. I've raised this guy from the start and I am freaking out that this is gonna block him up and kill him. Is there anything I can do in this situation? He might pass it, he might not. He is a ZZ and a cyano cross that came out quite nice. HELP PEOPLE!!!

he also ate a bunch of feeders at the same time, so its gonna take a while for him to spit it out, if he does

theres an old wise saying "what goes in must come out " luckily for your flowerhorn hes got 2 ways it can come out

It will take awhile for him to get rubber out as you know rubber will stay the same shape inside the belly and your fish will soon loose it appetite. What I recommend is take him out the small tank and add Epson Salt or its best if you can pump Epson Salt direct in its mouth so it can get in his belly. This method was using on 24"arowana when it swallow a suction cup. After inject Epson Salt direct in its mouth, he spit out within 24 hours.

anyone else ever used this technique??? i need a census here...

Great advice! This should be common knowledge because it works well and fast. Although he lost his meal, the salt did the trick. I scooped him up and gave him a strong solution out of the water, then just put him back in the tank. I've been watching him close and within 3 hours I retrieved the rubber band from the bottom of the tank. Big thanks to HondaS3000. This was a scary situation for me as this is the one fish I distinguished as special out of 300 or so. Although most of his siblings look like texas cichlids, he colored up and grew a kok. I just bought him a silver aro as a tank buddy today and was thinking to myself as the rubber band flew into the tank "these two will look nice together." A terrible case of good news bad news to the wifey when she came home. Thanks again guys.
