The answer to your problem is no more feeders! You may get lucky for 6 months, a year whatever. But eventually he will get one of those horrible-hard-to-treat viral, bacterial or intestinal diseases and you'll lose him. Not worth the risk since feeders provide no nutritional value whatsoever.

Great advice! This should be common knowledge because it works well and fast. Although he lost his meal, the salt did the trick. I scooped him up and gave him a strong solution out of the water, then just put him back in the tank. I've been watching him close and within 3 hours I retrieved the rubber band from the bottom of the tank. Big thanks to HondaS3000. This was a scary situation for me as this is the one fish I distinguished as special out of 300 or so. Although most of his siblings look like texas cichlids, he colored up and grew a kok. I just bought him a silver aro as a tank buddy today and was thinking to myself as the rubber band flew into the tank "these two will look nice together." A terrible case of good news bad news to the wifey when she came home. Thanks again guys.

if it's been over 72 hrs since he ate it, more than likely it won't come out from the mouth. in this case, all you can do is help him pass through and just hope he will. Try feeding him some pumpkin to help/maximize the chances to pass through.
