What to do with a 20g hex tank?

They are cheap, common and easy to breed. Just like bettas, but bigger and hardier.

Interesting idea with the crabs and the reef idea... Which do u think would look better? I am hesitant to only fill up half of the tank, because of the sound the hanging filter would make when dropping water

Understandable, but if you do it right it could actually sound like a nice waterfall effect, plus crabs don't need crazy amounts of circulation anyway so you could let the water drip down the rocks instead of dropping 6 inches into water... or you could always just get a submersable filter :) just ideas, I personally would do some sort of heavily planted dwarf cichlid tank like the Apistogramma cacatuoides or do some sort of Neolamprologous pulchar or small shell dwelling cichlid colony, but that's just me :)
