What To Do With Broken Camera

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Can you buy just an LCD screen and fix it or have someone else do it? Perhaps pay out of pocket for the repair? Camera store that does repairs somewhere? Shame to give up a personalized $500.00 camera..

I know some LCD's for cell phones are as cheap as like $10.00.. lol

well, the camera is a like a piece of donkey crap wrapped in silk linen (great design but terrible performance). so you've got to be out of your mind to spend any more money to fix this good looking donkey poop.

My Sony DSC-T200B broke. Even though I bought the accidental coverage, Sony won't repair or send me a replacement.

It was customized and engraved, so I can't even sell it as a broken camera lol.

I have to find a way to get my $500 back, if only a portion of it.

Isn't there like a website somewhere that'll pay you for used/old electronics?
Why dont you swap out the parts? Either put the old cover on the new camera or the new LCD on the old camera? You dont need to be an engineer, just open the broken one carefully and see how it is out together. Electronic items are just mass assembled components these days. Factory workers dont need tertiary qualifications.

Give you $5.64

Seriously, go see how much it costs to have it replaced at a camera repair place, then if it is too much, throw it on Ebay.

Consider Small Claims Court. I know it sounds weird, but Sony will quickly settle rather than send a lawyer for a $500 case. The case has to be defended reguardless of the outcome and it isn't worth paying a lawyer even if you are wrong. Claim 'breach of contract' based on the purchased warranty, and include the cost of the accessories as additional suffered damages.
