What to do with extra Filters.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
OK I can picture how that works but you don't think the strain on the FX5 motor would be massive? I bet the 530 holds at least five gallons or more? And I still have two more :nilly:. I know most are thiinking sell them but there basically the same filter as the Chinese knock off's selling for $100 or so. The only advantage is Marineland Support is Awesome!! And shipping cost make them worth next to nothing. I'm just past the return date for one:cry:. I could use them to make a kewl indoor waterfall in the Livingroom!!!

Hey just had a thought (which is rare for me:)) The 530 is rated at around 50 watts how much more would that add to your monthly bill say compared to a AC110? I could look up the 110's but I'm not sure how to brake down monthly cost. And second would say a 530 do that much better then the 110 bottom line?

why would there be a strain? Long as the dont extend the tube too much I cant see an issue.

You know I guess I should be glad to have the extra ones then not enough? I just hate it because it screws up my excuse to get the Eheim I want? :WHOA:

Id keep the Marineland in the box, possibly return it or sell. Hav had nothing but problems with their series...actually marineland in general lately. I think you're filtration setup can handle a pretty well stocked 125g. My water stays perfect with a 20g wet/dry and 4 stage Rena Filstar with some fairly large datnoids. Otherwise, I usually am a pack rat when it comes to aquarium equipment. I always seem to find use for powerhead, pumps, tubing n strainers, etc at some time or another.

Just Curious, what have your issues been? Mine was with air getting up into the head of the filter then it would start getting louder so I would tip the filter from side to side then back and forth to empty all the air. Sometime it needed this twice a day. Thing is I think Sun, Sun, Aquatop are built from the same place havn't read about any issues with them. You know it's to bad the design of this filter is great tons of room inside and it puts out some water and it does a good job. My issue has only been with one? The other thing is I've been wanting to order a Eheim (sorry to keep repeating myself) Thing is from the powers to be I have a hardtime trying to get away with ordering it when I have all these xtras sitting here? And as I posted above with the Sun Sun and Aquatops selling for such a good price it's hard to get any money back from them.

I'm still tempted to fill one with Biomax or Matrix in about three and a half trays with one Pad on top as the FX5 is a mechnical monister all by itself then maybe run it inline as mentioned above? Though I have to say I've been pleased with the 406's very easy compaired to the Marineland that thing will give you a hernia just lifting it to clean.
