Say you have a disease and may not make it, is there a way to contact someone/some company to pick up your fish upon not making it? Seriously, not a joke haha i dont want my fish going through hell being cared for by my family (love em but i dont think they could do it w/o mad research which nobody has time for). At this time its not a definite that ill even need this info but i dont want my fish getting tossed out or left in an uncared for tank.. so id like to have it now, id imagine whoever would picks them up would need a bit of a notice to make sure they have room too

Should i call around LFS' or ask other Hobbyists?

If I die my dad is competent enough to take care of my tanks. Failing that my fish go to my LFS. Or my family may try and take care of them. If I'm dead they'll be fine or they won't be lol

With the life span on some fish it could be useful, and I hope you don't need that type of service anytime soon.

if you are lucky enough to know people who care for fish properly they can go there if those people are willing. Depends on the fish. I have a piranha, and everyone in my extended family (the only people i know who have fish) are afraid of getting bit so that won't work in my case haha

My dad would have been, if he was still alive but it leaves it to my sister and mother.. my sister has troubles keeping a python healthy... I don't want her looking after my fish haha and my mom is too busy. I love my fish haha I wanna make sure they'll be ok, I have a feeling an LFS will probably be my best bet (if I need to, awaiting certain test results)

I'm not talking when I'm older, I'm talking about now haha so yeah the lifespan plays a role because I want my bichirs to live out the 10-20 years they got left

Haha that would be the same for me because my red wolf.. only thing is all my aquarist friends already have bigger fish, or fish that will be big enough to eat the red wolf or they would take it. I might be able to get away with a couple of my bichirs to my friend but only one has appropriately sized tank mates and I'm the only one running multiple tanks.. unless I could convince my buddy to take the wolf if he can find space for the 70, I'd give it all to someone for free if it meant they were well looked after

What about donating them to a public aquarium? I could explain the situation and such, I mean if they have a medium sized African biotope most of my fish would fit right in

Hi Will, hope all is OK regarding your health. Honestly I wouldn't even worry about it as of now - figure your condition out, then start contemplating about your fish. Even if you love them - what's a fish's life compared to a person's? Hundreds of thousands of fish die every day. I imagine someone within your family/friend/forum circle would be able to take them in if things turn out for the worse.

Don't stress it now - you seem healthy/functional/cognitively aware aware as of now - I would put it off until it becomes a real issue, and worry about YOUR health until then.

I second this. Whatever you're going through you have my prayers.

X3.....,

Take care of yourself first. It is a very thoughtful thing to think about their well being though, and I'm sure there are plenty of other hobbyist's, including myself, that can help you if you need when (and if) the time comes....

In my thoughts and prayers......

I was thinking if you get a big parrot you are required by law to mention it in a will and testament. Saying who will care for it if something happens to you. but I can not find much in Google
