Ok, so they are not breeding yet, I am just trying to get everything lined up for when they do breed, so I was asking some of the LFS's around here and NONE of them will even take small 1" - 2" pikes even for free......:WTF:! They all claim they have had pikes before and could not sell them. Who can't sell pikes??? I am not doing this for monitary gain but, for the knowledge, research, documentation, and enjoyment of it. I will have no problem giving them away when they do eventually breed. So my question is pretty much what do other people do with their fry? The only other fish I have bread was Firemouths and Convicts and I could give them away all day long no problem and the LFS would buy them for $1 a piece at 1" to 2" for Store Credit. It just seems no one around this area wants pikes.... And no I will not going to use them as feeders...lol. The reason I am asking is because they are exsibiting breeding behavior making "false passes" in the same place over and over again so I think a spawn may be close. Thanks in advance for any help!

I keep them in one of my small tanks until the weather turns warm, then they go into a kiddy pool in the backyard ( in full shade ) with a cheap filtration system and they grow like crazy until fall. I just put some 1" fish out 2 weeks ago and most have already doubled that size. This fall I will cherry pick the ones I want to keep and sell or give away the rest.

There lies the problem. I have been asking all over and can not seem to find any LFS that want them and no one I work with keeps fish.

If you get a spawn, I would totally be interested if you could ship.

moving to colorado in august

edit: make that if anyone gets a crenicichla spawn. I would be interested in whichever species.
once i move i will bring a few tanks with me and looking to acquire some when i get there.
