what to do with illegal fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Bury them in the back yard and plant a tree to remind you of that time you were being stupid and took an illegal fish out of a ditch.

and its fl.you never know what you will find.and when there a half inch,it was hard to say what they were.and was curious. :)

Letting them go into the wild is about that last thing I would do. In all honesty, I would just keep them. Seriously, how often do F&W come knocking on the doors of random people. I live in NY, it's not something I worry about, you live in Florida so I know they are pretty strict there on non-natives, mabe they do preform random fish searches so if I'm wrong correct me.

The POLICE do not arrest people this type of violation:screwy:

Don't come to Florida thinking like that. Cops here are a different breed :irked:

I was a cop in Florida:eek:

If you are looking to get rid of the fish just call the F&W and tell them you found this fish when it was small and now that its bigger you relized that it is something you shouldnt have and would like to know what they want you to do with it. You didn't do this on purpose and how can they charge you if you tell them what you did how you found it ect. They may allow you to call a zoo and have them transport it so that you don't have to worry about transport laws.

I believe oddball was the one that said he had to kill his fish or get a fine i think that is what they will suggest to you to if they find it. Just get rid of the fish or get a fine.

do you think its legal to use them as bait in saltwater?would they live long enough?
i could get some nice snook with them. :headbang2
thought about it for big bass but if they get off the hook, yada yada. :D

Fry them or feed them as suggested previously. And your question puts you on the right track for a third option. They are also good as cut bait or if you use a food processor or blender, as chum.;)
