What to do with my lady err...male dovii?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo

Now that I know that my dovii is a he and can't go in my 210 with my male, should I

  • take him back to the LFS because he is a dovii and will eventually go crazy on my other fish

  • keep him in my 240 in the hopes he will be the rare "community" dovii

So I thought I got a girlfriend to put in my 210 with my male dovii. Apparently she is a he. So right now he is 5 inches and having no aggression issues with several other large cichlids in an 8 ft 240. Two questions. First off is this a Costa Rican or a Nic? Second, and what the poll is about. Should I take him back now or leave him in the 240 in the hopes that he will be a rare "community" dovii?

well i have a nic and yours looks identical to mine so must be a nic. keep him and hope he turns out nice. you never know and even if he gets to aggro there plenty of peeps on here that would be happy to buy him off ya.

Hmmm....50/50. That's how I feel right now too. I can't decide.

Well do you really want two male Dovii? If so then keep him.

I answered to take him back but only because the longer you keep him, the more you'll get attached and not want to give him up later.

Keep in mind I've never kept a dovii before ... so I'd be tempted to keep it and see how it does, but I still voted to take it back becuase most likely you will eventually.

In a 240 he should be ok they'll probably keep to opposite sides of the tank if and when one wanders he'll be put in his place

It will be interesting if I keep him to watch and see how he does. Among other things there is a 13 male Jag and a 13 inch Butti that co-rule the tank. I have harmony because they all know their place. I wonder if he is raised in that environment if it will turn out better than my dovii pictured in my avatar. He was solo raised and will kill any tankmates.
