so what your saying is i can basically mix and match? as long as i dont get cichlids that arent from the same region?

well ill have to come up with a stock and post again to see if its appropriate

ok heres my final stock i believe

2 Chalinochromis brichardi "masked"
2 Julidochromis ornatus
2 Julidochromis regani Kipili
2 Julidochromis regani Zambia
2 Julidochromis transcriptus Bemba
2 Julidochromis transcriptus Gombi
i love each of the Julidochromis im sure ill have to cut some out

2 Synodontis petricola that im thinking of breeding

2 Altolamprologus compressiceps gold head

here are the Malawi cichlids

4 Copadichromis sp. midnight mloto Mara Point
maybe Otopharnyx lithobates Zimbawe Rock
maybe Sciaenochromis "red electric blue"

2 Labeotropheus trewavasae red top/orange
2 Melanochromis "electric blue johnanni"
1 or 2Metriaclima zebra chilumba Luwino Reef
2 Pseudotropheus flavus
maybe Pseudotropheus elongatus Likoma Island

so what do you all think any i should remove or what?

If you go with tangs, julies can cross breed. So watch for that. If you go with the malawi, then you will want either haps/peacocks or mbuna. Do not mix both in a 55. It is too small to try this. If you want mbuna

But I fear these will out grow your 55. I know mine did...

Julidochromis transcriptus Gombi- are not the correct name they are truly Julidochromis marlieri. Just so you know...

Perhaps add a lelepui... I love my pair...

2 Synodontis petricola that im thinking of breeding

2 Altolamprologus compressiceps gold head

hope this helps... Just want I have learned while keeping my many different types of Africans

so i can only pick one set of julies... disappointing but the right thing to do im going to have to chose Julidochromis ornatus then

Mike, isnt that kinda what I have been saying? Or am I now just confused on a higher level?

jaws, look at julidochromis dickfeldi midnight, i think you might really like them, they are my favs when it comes to julies. you cant go wrong with marlieri I have 4 right now, but I really want dickfeldi midnight.

a lot of what you have said, with a few bits of information and thoughts of mine added... no problem with advice, but always helps when people hear it from another person too!!!!

jaws, they sure are some nice looking fish, Im prolly gonna order some soon, once I get over my Tropheus buying phase....it seems to drain my wallet!
