hmm. alright. well my dad tells me i should get another oscar.. i dont know how well 2 oscars can do in a 55.
i like oddball fish but i cant think of any that will go with my oscar and stay in a 55 for life.
otherwise i was thinking maybe another cichlid, a peaceful one, maxing at 8"

An Oscar would need the 55 gal as a bare minimum to himself, that's what most recommend. I, personally, wouldn't put one in less than a 75 gal but that's me.
In 8 months you're going to have an Oscar pushing a foot long and still not full grown. He'll be cramped in the 55 as it is.

+1 I agree. Saw 2 in a 55 once, it was not pretty, both had hith and looked cramped...even ignoring the fact that a 55 isn't big enough (barely for 1, def. not for two), you would need lots of filteration as well, bc thier a big bioload, which in turn would then bring you back to the problem of money.

i know an oscar can be cramped, but i plan to trade him in if he gets too big. i dont think im getting another fish, i think i'm just going to trade the jack and get a new plant or something.

3" right now. so you think i should just wait till my oscar outgrows him some? thats what i was told to do in the past but my oscar and jd got along so well for 2 weeks then BAM. locked jaws when i walk downstairs. seems the jd new how to do it and the oscar didn't really get it

p.s. what size tank did you have them in?

I have a 200g tank now for the cichlids. Everything seems to be way more peaceful. Once in a while the pike will put the JD back in his place and thats about the only time any "drama" happens.

if you put a baby bichir in the tank it will be eaten!!! my oscar just ate my bichir.

oh no, i dont have the aro but i really want one for when i build the tank..
fish unlimited is a lot cheaper than other fish stores around, i've bought 2 fish from them and they're very healthy.
why do you ask? i think im going to bring the jd in tomorrow and probably get another plant to help make the tank a little darker
last time i was at fish unlimited they had a baby arowana there i wanted, but had no cash, it was in the tank with some tetras and barbs, it was about 4 inchs long, and 35 bucks, now that i have some cash i really want to buy it but its a 1hr drive =(
