Yeah I am assuming where he was wild caught and young it was stress but he definitely has a little weight on him now. I am just happy to see that he eats now. It was probably 6-8 months in when I first saw him eat. I just put food in and hoped for the best.
That is always the worst part of adding new place's I have found. Half a year later I have yet to see my L114 eat, but I throw heaps of food in for them, and they remain fat, so I assume they must be eating.
Yeah the first three weeks I had him I kept him in a 15g QT tank with only a sponge filter and he just hid under the filter the entire time. Never once saw him eat. After the first two weeks off confirming that he wasn't sick or carrying disease I wanted to give him another week to settle in hoping I would see him eat......and nothing. Never once saw him eat so I finally gave up and then put him in my main. He is still alive so I am assuming he must have been eating. I overfeed my tank a little but do weekly water changes so I don't stress on it too much.
Yeah I don't worry too much right now because I am growing out WAY more juveniles than I plan on having in my tank long term. I have 20 lemon tetra's, 16 Geo. Tapajos and 6 Uaru's. Once the Geo's and Uaru's get a little larger I am going to sell off the majority of them but most are still under 2" so no rush just yet. The Uaru's will probably grow faster than the Geo's but I will enjoy them while I have them.
