WHAT HAPPEND TO BASSMAN!? lol

i had about a 7-8 in smallie and i was out of minnows so i decided to go to one of my lfs and buy some feeders and i only quarantined them for about a day because the bass hadnt eatan in about a week. so i threw in some feeders and he ate them right away however i think the feeders were diseased and about a week later my sm bass developed parasites and fungus on him. i bought medication for the tank but it was too late and i woke up in the mornin and found him dead at the bottom of the tank :(

So thats one reason why you shouldnt use feeders w/o quarentining them. Also they are very low in nutrition, so while quarintining them feed them good!

Flakes as a staple, then a few mintues before you use them as food, throw in some meaty frozen foods, like brine shrimp and blooworms, enough to make them nice and fat. This way the nutrition is passed onto the fish!

couldnt have said that better myself
i cant stress enough that you always have to quarantine feeders or you will lose a prized possession like i did

so i am having the same problem bass wont eat, 3 days now so i go to the local ditch to see what i can feed them they wont eat the 2 gold fishes in there :character0087: so what do i catch about 20ghost shimp thre there in there and wham they hit them right after another they both ate about 5, I also caught a crawldad but they wont touch him. So tey GHOST SHrIMP work for ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I was a kid we had a huge pond on our property that we kept stocked with bass and channel cats. My dad let me raise a finger sized LMB in our 200g. When I left for college 9 years later he was over 2 feet long and was the funniest damned fish you'd ever seen. He finally died a couple years ago at the ripe old age of 15 and was just shy of the 26" mark. My mom had him mounted and placed him on the wall in the living room. Whenever someone comes over and asks where they caught him my folks tell them he was a pet. No one ever believes them. I really think in the next year or so I'm going to get back into raising natives. There is something satisfying about raising fish that are naturally found in the waters where you live, as opposed to fish from other parts of the world.
