what to feed fire eel

gday all, i am after some advice on feeding my fire eel. he is about 5 inches.i have had him for a couple of months and he has grown an inch or so, but all he will eat is live brine shrimp and cherry shrimp. i keep trying him on hikari food sticks but he will not eat them. any suggesttions on what to feed him or how to get him on food sticks would be fantastic. thanks.

I used to have fire eel, until he bailed on me. He loved blackworms up until that point. My tiretrack and zig zag both love blackworms. So in other words give worms a try.

if you feed him earthworm or try a few river shrimp you can either get worms from your garden or shrimp from your local lake so both are not costing anything mine is about a foot long and very healthy good luck

Worms are the magic food for fire eels, my old one would only eat night crawlers.

worms, we have one at the moment and it for the most part won't eat more than bloodworms, although I believe it occasionally will take mysis

raw market shrimp cut to size is a good food for them that they'll usually take.

Try to get him on bloodworms and market shrimp while he's young. Earthworms are a guarantee, but once he starts eating those you may never get him off live food IME.

If he refuses the bloodworms/shrimp you may have to go with earth worms, but I'd reserve that as a final resort.
