Hi
Hope I'm posting in the right place, apologies if not
I am currently having a 96" x 30" x 30" tank and cabinet built which I am hoping will be installed early next year.Filtration will be by an undertank sump of around 100 (UK) gallons.
I haven't completely decided what to keep in the tank yet but one possibility
is a large fish community,no tankbusters as such but fish around the 12 -18" length.
My reason for thinking this way is that I have 4 young orange pike cichilds that I'm growing on hoping to get maybe a pair.I think they would be a great starting point for my community as I believe they are not too aggressive to non-pikes(correct me if I'm wrong)
So what I'm looking for are some suggestions for tank mates who would live happily with the pikes and are maybe something a bit different - no tinfoil barbs please.
I also have an African lungfish and a red fin giant gourami who currently live together and I'm toying with the idea of splitting them up and putting the gourami in the big tank as I've been told they are generally slightly smaller (20") and more friendly than the normal giant - again tell me if that's not correct.
I don't think I'll risk the lungfish in the community tank, even though he's fine at the minute with the gourami.I suppose I could put the lung and the gourami in the big tank together without anything else but he hardly moves much and as he's only 13" I'm sure he's fine in his 5 footer at the moment.
To be honest my head is spinning with ideas at the moment, so if you could throw some ideas at me I'd be grateful.
If you had an empty 8' tank, what,if any,of my fish would you put in it,or would you leave them where they are and put something completely different in it?Inspiration required lol!
Thanks,Jayne
