what to keep with rays?

I keep Black Barred SD's and Asian Arowanas with all my rays...good mix as Aros on top, SD's mid section and Rays on bottom..

aros look good with rays. i can watch rays prowling on bottom with an aro doing laps on top for hours on end.

I've considered geophagus ... How active are they?

They are almost constantly swimming around sifting the substrate. They are pretty peaceful by cichlid standards, but there is usually a decent amount chasing, flaring, and basically establishing a pecking order from time to time.
