First of all get spray paint, it works much better then paintbrush method.
I got this can of black paint form walmart, I coulnd't tell you what it was.
It has worked no problem for 5 years now. The can said it would stick to glass. It did and still does. Just leave enough time for drying.

i used ACE black enamel spray paint it was like $1.50

i use spray paint as well. i like Rustoleum. IMO it works better on glass. takes less to cover when compared to krylon

Yea, I think I used rustoleom, I just asked the paint people from where I bought it what to use.

dont mean to derail but on one of my new tanks it said "do not let paint come in contact with plastic trim, the result will be melting plastic" or something like that
is this true?

first off mask it if anything, and you can get krylon latex in spray can or h20, which is water all based, so if water will hurt your trim, so will that paint. In other words stick with latex or acrylics, they are also remove easy.

With latex you can soak the back of the tank for a couple hours in water and it will peel off in 1 piece. :)
