What to put in a 25?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What do yall think about a 25 gal salt water. that is what the old owner had.
are they hard to keep up with?
i know the bigger the better with salties. but...?

i think the family would like this more than a fresh water. but i dunno.

It's up to you. Are you willing to handle the expenditures? That's the first question that you should ask yourself.;) Reef systems are very expensive but you have other options such as fish only or FOWLR (fish only with live rocks). If you want to start with fish, stick with the less aggressive ones such as green chromis and avoid a few of the most common damsels.

I f it is gonna be a "family" tank then ill see if mom will pay for it. i think we should have all the stuff for it b/c like i said b4 the lady that the tank belonged to was using it as salt water before. so maybe that will help with the costs. :)

it would probably be something like just a couple of fish and live sand...could that work?

rams, tetras (rummy nose are cool), and some colorful plecs like L134, L146 or similar.

I agree with this notion. If you aren't going to be there all the time keep it low maintenance. Trying to upkeep a reef would be crazy if you aren't there all the time.

ok,, well the way it is going we wont have the tank till summer, which i would be home all the time from then on...so lets forget the me not being there thing :)

well i have one of the tanks. it came with a bio wheel 400. It was a SW tank and that is the only filtration they had on it. That why it failed??

Something that has worked out for me: My daughter's 20g has 3 hatchets, 3 rosy barbs, 8 neons, 1 corycat, 1 bumblebee cat, 2 dwarf frogs, 1 male betta and 1 bushynose pleco
