However, research research research! You don't want to end up with a tankbuster.
Try researching P. senegalus, there are others like retropinnis or Nigerians that would work for a long time. I have an Ornate and one day he will out grow the tank, but its been a year and hes fine

Istlanum. Best looking, personality, and colors of any fish i've every had the pleasure of keeping.

:iagree: They are better than a gt anyday.

If I went with a Red Devil or an Oscar, when he was full grown I would need to take him out every now and then and turn him the other way so he could look through the other side of the tank for a while.

Would not be very fair, GT sounds interesting man, the males have great colour. Considered it myself

I have a 5inch Male Gold Saum in my 55g tank with two 3inch female convicts(one pink, and one Black) and they look awesome together....the female cons always follow him around and He is so curious to everything thats comes by....This Fish is the best fish I have ever kept and The female cons add more color to the tank and give it a Little community look....

right now i have a breeding pair of severums in my 55g. they're getting a big cramped so i picked up a 75g. a lone severum would do good in a 55g. when i've freed it up im thinking of either a gymnogeophagus tank or a cuban cichlid
