Hi, I just recently set up and cycled a 100 gallon aquarium and its beautiful, ive never had one this large before, initially I thought I wanted a large community tank, but the more and more I research IM really not a fan of most of the community species, I like the odd balls. So I decided to make it an oddball aquarium, unfortunatlly pretty much all the really "cool" oddballs are carnivores and can only be kept with fish that at the very least cant fit in there mouths. So anyway this is what I was thinking but want/need some advice on it

2 freshwater barracuda in researching found get around 12"
1 or 2 marbled birchirs polypterus palmas which get around 12" also I found
1 black ghost knife which get around 16" i found
maybe a few flying foxes at around 6"
1 red lizard whiptail catfish 6-10"
5 or 6 4" corys
and 6 or 7 blind cave fish at around 3.5 "

oh, and of course some snails of whatever species

just wondering if this setup would work, are there any nasty fin nippers in there, will the blind cave fish get eaten, will the barracudas finish off some of my fish. not sure how big the mouths of birchirs or barracudas get, or black ghosts knives. your opinions would be of great help to me, and thank you in advance

alright, big woops, I just did some calculating and that would be to many fish for a 100 gallon going by and inch a gallon, sorry, recalculated at 99.5 inches and that even might be too much,

2 freshwater barracudas
1 marbled birchir polypterus palmas
1 red lizard whiptail catfish
1 black ghost knife
5 corys
and 5 blind cave fish

what do you think, is that a disaster waiting to happen or is it possible.
just to let you know I kept fish for about ten years then switched to breeding reptiles, thats what I do now but really want to get back into the fish as well, so if my memory of fish husbandry is a little rusty, bear with me lol

Expect to lose the cave fish (they are fin nippers by the way), also te fiying foxes will most likely get eaten.

Inch per gallon only applies to fish like guppies and neons,do some research into the fish you like and see what type of tanks other people keep thiers in,Ive read ppl rehoming bgk from 180g tanks cause it wasnt enough room.

yeah, I might think about a african knife instead, they get a lot smaller but still to big for the freshwater barracudas to eat

i keep 3 fish all about 12 or 13 inchs in a 125 gal 2 oscars and 1 pleco thinking about up gradeing them to may be a 180 gal. i have allways thought 3 gal or more per inch if you go from tip of mouth to tip of tail (for large fish)

what kind of barracuda are you thinkg of getting hujeta or red tail barracuda ? either way i'd think the cory's and cave fish would get eatin my the barracuda

IM not sure which kind of barracuda yet, which one gets smaller?, Im abandoning the cave fish thing but I though the corys would be ok cause the barracudas stay at the top and the corys are on the bottom, although the birchir might get them that way. dont know yet, still researching
