what to put in with convicts

well uhh i wouldnt put any thing but convicts in there ive never had luck with tank mates for those guys theyll beat up anything theyre size and smaller and since theyre a realatively small cichlid theyll get beat up by most other cichlids

That is not correct. They are just about as aggro as any other cichlid when not breeding, and with 3 of them they spread out the aggression prettty good.

just by my expierience by what ive seen im 100% correct maybe you your right though thats just what ive seen maybe ive just encountered oddball convicts :thumbsup:
 
I'd give it a shot with a dempsey or maybe a salvini or neet (not a pair though), as long as the filtration and water changes are good
 
Wow, a lot of strange responses (Dovii, Snakehead, Geo's, blackbelt) for a 55g with convicts?

I think a Female RTM could work if you can find one. I think a GT, JD, or Sal are all better choices though. If you could find a pike in the 7-9 inche max size range that would work well also.
 
I'd go with a Sal, nice yellow colour and great fishonality and could stand up to the cons no worries.
