I have a 2'(H)x1'(D)x15" tank. It currently has no fish in it, only some floating plants with roots that reach the bottom of the tank and another type with short stubby roots. I've added some sorta carpet plant inside as well. The substrate is sand. I've got a thermometer running at 22 degrees celsius inside right now. I'm wondering what i could stock the tank with. All ideas are welcome. It's currently filtered by an overhead filter.

Thanks in advance.

I personally would do a school of tetras (maybe rummy nose), small school of corydoras or coolie loaches, and a betta as my "center piece". I probably would add a bunch of cherry shrimp as well.

You might be able to get away with maybe one dwarf cichlid in there, but I wouldnt put one in anything less than 20g personally...

personally i'd go for mass shrimpies :)

Thats what I want to do with my 10gal but I have too many fishes to move and I dont want to sell any of them back to the LFS and now Im in the process of tanking some tanks down and just keeping to large ones. :irked:

What kinda' shrimps are good? And for all the above mentioned, is 22 degrees okay or can i remove the thermometer. What would you feed them? I'm afraid the fishes might not see floating stuff because the plants take up a lot of surface area.

a small group of neon tetras would be fine. Just make sure your tank is cycled or they will die. You may also add a clean-up crew like a snail or a shrimp.

Been cycling it for almost 3 weeks. How many neon tetras would be ideal for a tank like mine? Any other suggestions? Like more unusual fishes?

minimum 6 as they are a schooling fish

Or if you like smaller group fish, you may consider getting a dwarf puffer.

A tank of your size can host up to 3. Just make sure you do not put in 2 males and 1 female as the males will fight to the death during mating season.

Also be sure to heavily plant your tank as those as very territorial. Nevertheless, they are very active fishes and fun to watch. If you look long enough you will see they have unique personalities.

I think you should get an rtc, tiger oscar, a jag., and a wolf cichlid.
