I have a 75 gallon freshwater tank thats up and running with a fx4. The water is all cylcled and ready for fish. currently i dont have any substrate in the tank but I could always add that. Im just not sure what to put in the tank. Im open to anything but im into odballs or cichlids. Any suggestions? It could be something that would grow out of the tank because my Lfs will take it when it grows out of my tank for an exchange.

Lots of options here. Do you want a single species "wet pet" type of tank like anthony suggested? Or perhaps a community tank with several oddball types?

Whats the quality and ph of your tap water? What temperature would you like to keep the tank at? Are you a heavy or sparse scaper--do you want to add substrate or live plants at all?

Ph imo if its neutral you can keep most fish tank raised. I have a tank born stingray and it does fine in a 7.4 ph.

Honestly i have no clue what the quality and ph of my tap water is but i known the ph in the tank is at 7.0 right now but i can change that depending on what type of fish im going to go with. I wanted to keep this tank as a bare bottom and more of a scarce scape, i wasnt planning on live plants and the temperature is at 79 right now but that can easily be changed because my heater is adjustable. I already have 2 other tanks and i have this 75 laying around so i figured i'de do something a easier to maintain and clean with it.

I would go with paratilapia polleni. Grows around 10", somewhat oddball, beautiful cichlid. Add a group of dithers at your discretion.

Flowerhorn would be another good choice. Lots of different varieties and types to choose from. Good in a bare bottom scape.

1 male betta fish, most colorful and expensive you could find. It would be a mansion to him.

Well a green terror, jack dempsey, or a salvini would be perfect as a single pet. If you want multiple, you could go for some bichirs with an african butterfly fish and a leopard bush fish/leaf fish. Some shell dwellers or other small lake tanganyikan cichlids would be cool, some smaller south american cichlids like apistogrammas would work well.

I would love to see a 75 gallon with only shell dwellers and nothing else, since most people put them in smaller tanks as it seems.
