What to use to catch grass carp?

Make sure it's not a state employee you're trying to catch.

Bread balls with a tiny bit of garlic powder. Used it in my pond after reading bout garlic flavor enhancers- it worked. Always cast to the carp with everything imagineable (they are notoriously hard to catch), but bread & garlic only thing that EVER worked. May have been coincidence, but worth a try. If they r as big as you say, a harpoon may be best bet.

On a side note that fish was probably stocked in that lake by the owner to keep the weeds under control. Most of the stocked grass carp are triploids meaning they are sterile and cant reproduce and are not a threat to the pond. So if you catch it you should probobly just take a quick pic and let it go instead of killing it.

Yeah, I think ALL stocked carp are sterile now. If not, they probably are considered a pest species and maybe should be destroyed. Make sure to find out before releasing or killing.

They are sterile and stocked in the pond to control the aquatic vegatation so I will not be keeping or killing it will be a catch and release.

Def give updates on success/failure... and pics of success.

Well I wont be going to the pond until this fall but If I do get one I will definately show the pics of the catch :)
